Is There Enough Time?

See full size image

September looks to be shaping up as a busy month. Mostly with fun and exciting things to do.
Mike starts a new semester next week and this time around it is 2 classes a semester and one is at a different location. This will prove to be interesting as I will be without a car at least one day a week. But who knows maybe he will bring home fun food that is only found outside of our county.
Back to the title of my post. This weekend is Labor Day. In Michigan there is LOTS to do over Labor Day weekend. I am going to share with you a few of them We are picking three of them to do and you may want to do them too, please come with us! Or explore on your own. That is one thing about this state there is ALWAYS something to do. Needless to say the only things that sometimes get done around here are the dishes and laundry because we are having to much fun doing all of the other things outside of the house.

  1. Michigan State Fair - Michigan claims it to be the oldest State Fair in the U.S. This more than likely will be the last year they have the fair so make sure you don't miss it. The word around town is that it is great! We are going today (Wednesday).
  2. Arts Beats & Eats - We went last year when Chrysler was the key sponsor and we had a lot of fun with Jayne, Josh, and Brandon. This year they lost Chrysler but it is touted as being the best they have ever had. The community, vendors, and sponsors have really pitched in to help make it great and even Kid Rock is sponsoring a music stage. Kids have a petting zoo, moon walk, and other great things to do. Friday it is free entrance (normally $2) and the city Pontiac is doing free parking as well. Take advantage of this great event. Last year they had free massages too. I am all for that again!
  3. Greenfield Village - Yes, the three of us are going again! But you have to check out Disney's A Christmas Carol Train Tour. One of the best parts is it's FREE. Some of the activities will be See a sneak peek of the film in a state of the art Digital 3-D Theatre, Experience a Behind the Scenes look at the making of the Movie,See original artifacts from the Charles Dickens Museum in London, England, Morph your face into characters from the movie using HP TouchSmart PC’s, See concept art, models, costumes and maquettes, Carolers, Snow, and more!
  4. Detroit Jazz Festival - The line up that is presented is amazing! This has been going on for 30 years now. All in downtown Detroit and it is an event that should not be missed.
If you are still looking for something fun to do and this is not enough go to Pure Michigan and you just might find something up your alley somewhere in the great state of Michigan.

P.S. It should only reach maybe 80 this weekend. So take advantage of the wonderful weather and get OUTSIDE!

The state fair is awesome. When I was about 10 or 11 we started going since it started around my bday. I loved that place, so many rides. And it would only cost about 10 bucks for an all day pass. the only thing is it could get a little crowded. But have fun!
