2024, July 8-14

We continue doing what we can to beat the summer heat.

It’s been a while since we have seen Jack and Raunchy, so we stopped by on Monday morning.

Earlier, Mike caught a picture of this dragonfly resting in the garden.

Kai was here for a few days and gone for a couple before coming back to stay for the next five weeks. Here he is on his way back to Brittany’s while Hallie and Gma M. ran a few errands. He does like to get his window time in.

That was going on while Mike and Eliza were hanging with the ponies. Eliza wanted to get some funny pictures in.

Google Photos decided to make a throwback image based on the one above and another from a couple of years back.

Another silly image.

The Copa America has gone on for the last little bit, and Mike put out the Argentina flag when they played their semifinal against Canada.

Hallie got fancy nails for the upcoming Days of ‘47 Rodeo.

Eliza decided to follow Landon’s trail and get herself an electric bike. She is thrilled (except for the fact that she can’t ride it motorized unless accompanied by a parent. Mike has been fine being her ride-along).

Late Wednesday afternoon, both Mike and Kai were bushed after walking in the heat. Landon took this shot of them snoozing. Mike actually felt a bit rested afterwards.

Apparently, so did Kai.

The next day, Mike caught Kai with a blop, which is apparently the dog version of a blep. If you look to the first picture of Kai in the car earlier in the week, we may have caught him with his tongue out then too.

The dude is out cold.

When Eliza and Hallie were out shopping, they found this huge chair with three cup holders.

Eliza got both Mike and Landon to join her for a ride Friday evening after the heat lessened up. We went along the Hobble Creek trail, among other places.

Once again, Google Photos reminded us that we’ve been going on summer rides for over a decade now.

These were supposed to be epic jumps. The camera caught the shots late.

Mike read somewhere that if you take a warm wet toothbrush to brush your cat, it will remind him of being groomed by his mother. He tried it on Fergus, and Fergus seemed to enjoy it. Hallie found it funny and decided to take photos.

Our old neighbors (and Kai’s former co-owners) Julie and Lincoln came over to visit Friday night while they’re staying nearby. While we all were thrilled, Kai was especially so.

On Saturday morning after Landon mowed Gma and Gpa M’s lawn, we went to the Payson Scottish Festival.

This year, we tried a meat pie, a sausage roll, and a Scotch egg along with our poutine.

Lincoln returned Saturday afternoon, much to Kai’s delight.

In Friday’s ride, Eliza’s new bike got a flat, so she and Mike had to take it to Jolly Circle on Saturday afternoon. Already with the expenses! Eliza really enjoys her bike, and getting the tire fixed allowed us to make sure Mike had assembled everything right.

We returned home to see that former President Trump had survived an assassination attempt while campaigning. What an extremely sobering situation. We mourn for the families of those killed and injured, and we hope that peace will prevail.

Mike and Eliza went on another early evening ride, and this time Mike made sure to catch some of the blooming sunflowers along our path.

On Sunday morning’s ride, Eliza said Mike should get shots of the grazing lambs and sheep. Here are pictures of the grazing lambs and sheep (and Eliza too).

Also, he wanted to make sure to show off this image Eliza drew and we put on the fridge.

We took some time Sunday afternoon to enjoy the finals of the Euro Cup and the Copa America.
