This week we transitioned from Memorial Day into summer vacay.
Landon had gym practice early in the day on Memorial Day. We got some rain but not as much as had been predicted. Hallie really likes Shift Movement Science and the the things they teach and bring to gymnastics. Dave Tilley and his partners dropped new merchandise, and so the super model below needed a new hoodie and t-shirt. It came just in time for a chilly Memoria Day.
Coach Sam found Landon's camera, apparently. He has found Hallie's in the past and really likes for people to find him on their phones later on. We all get a good laugh.
On his drive, Dad found this car. Interesting quality to proclaim.
Fergus finds warms laps at inconvenient times. Hallie thinks it is a convenient time, too bad it really didn't deter Landon from getting off the video games. Fergus doesn't sit on some of our laps as much as others. So, when he takes up residence on some laps those people tend to work around him and try not to move.
While Landon was trapped, the rest of us made our way to Red Tacos in Orem for a fundraiser for A Child's Hope Foundation.
We got churros from San Diablo, where we've gotten them before either at their food truck or at a friend's wedding. Eliza loves that they serve crickets. Usually, the crickets are sprinkled on top, but the parents were not so big on the crickets, so the gentleman at the window poured some in a cup for her. Way to go on a great customer service, San Diablo! They are opening their own stand-alone store this Monday. We wish our schedule was more open to go and support them. I am sure we will make our way to Murray soon.
We got all sorts of yummy food. We ate off that Mexican-style pizza for close to 3 days! It was amazing! Red Taco does not skimp on their fillings.
The week flew by. On Friday, Eliza and Mom went to the Spanish Fork food trucks, where they got shave ice (Icy Mountain Shaved Ice), pizza (not good customer service) and BBQ (LOVE Smokin' Roadside Grill).
This is how we spent movie night. This week, we watched The Lost City. It was good for some laughs, with a couple of funny cameos and twists. It was Hallie's movie night, and many of the other nights have been spent watching Star Wars and other shows that would not be Hallie's first choice. So she decided it was time for a RomCom. Eliza did Hallie's hair too.
The artists-in-residence have been hard at work. A few years back, Mike saw arms done in a "kawaii" (Japanese for cute) style. Some of his online heraldry friends like the style, so every so often they'll ask him to make them one.
Here's the armorial so far. Kind of goofy, kind of fun.
Eliza has also made art. We love seeing her creative side.
She also caught a fish. This carp (maybe the descendant of someone's goldfish?) she found in the creek north of the house and next to Reagan Elementary. As we could not keep the fish, Mike helped her return it to the creek. Sadly, we did not get pictures of the return. Eliza and her friend Lily brought the fish home in her shirt, stopping periodically to keep the fish wet. Eliza knew that the fish should not dry out. Mike was able to talk Eliza into returning the fish to the creek by way of putting the tub, water, and fish in a stroller and walking it back to the creek. Remember how she brought home a snake a few weeks ago? You would think we live on a nice piece of land somewhere. But alas, this townhouse neighborhood brings with it a lot of surprises. Take it as you like.
Later in the day, Hallie and Eliza went to the Springville Rodeo. Springville Rodeo kicks off the season here in Utah County. Art City Days is what the festival is called here. We have never been to our city's rodeo before, and at $5/per person it is not a bad gig. Hallie asked around and was told to get there early. So they did and got great seats. Eliza loved being up close during the whole rodeo. Most rodeos you can find her as close to the action as she can get, but she still wants to ride English. Funny girl.
On Sunday morning, Mike took a walk down by the creek. Plenty of wildflowers are in bloom. He also saw some waterfowl. The stream is still running fairly high and fast with runoff.
When he got home, hot from his walk, Fergus decided that he would be the perfect lap to sleep on.
Sometimes he gets a little bleppy if he gets jostled from his slumber. It's a tough life. Landon gets the photo credit below.
P.S. Hallie got a new job. Hallie is the Office Manager at USA Gym World American Fork. It has only been a few days, but she is excited for the future.
