2021, April 5-11

Spring break did not last long enough, but at least we had fun and the weather cooperated.

Hallie took Eliza and Lily to a Paw Patrol activity at the library. We do enjoy our library! Hallie doesn't get to hear Eliza read often, so it was fun for her to catch this moment of Eliza reading to Lily.

The beast slumbers. Are you tired of cat pictures yet?

After the library, the girls went to the all-abilities park in Spanish Fork. Grandma joined us for a bit of relaxation. Eliza said she will never be too big for the swing.

It was finally Mike's turn to get his COVID-19 vaccine. He was dressed as a super hero, and we thought it was a perfect shirt for him to wear. Thank you, Caleb and Diamond!

Kind of strange to see a former department store now a vaccine staging area, complete with the National Guard.

On Wednesday, the girls got pedicures.

For date night, Mike and Hallie had barbecue. Look at this luscious mac and cheese. Hallie didn't eat as much as Landon did. He really liked it.  Hallie really liked it too, but it was really big, and she only ate a few bites. But man, Landon devoured it!

Mike looked out his window, and what did he see? Little 'Liza Jane climbing up a tree!

This girl. She gets into all sorts of hijinks. In fact, on Thursday, she gave herself some serious road rash on her knee when she crashed on a neighbor's bike.

Landon had his last meet of the season, the Region 9 meet, where he took 5th place overall in his age group! We are very proud of his floor routine where he took 2nd in the region. Landon hadn't compered floor in almost 2 months, which is a big deal in gymnastics. He had been back working on floor just a few days before competition. There are two boys in his age group that give everyone a run for their money. So to know Landon was up there with those two made us very proud.

Here's Eliza's knee Friday night. Eliza thought we should pretend it was a cast. We are keeping it wrapped and changing the bandages twice a day. Some of her hijinks includes picking at scabs or making the sore worse, so we are trying to keep her away from her sore as much as possible.

Mike taught his last doctoral classes of the semester on Friday and Saturday, so he missed Landon's meet. He was on campus, so Fergus was extremely happy to see him when Mike finally got home.

Hallie went out to lunch with her friend Emma on Saturday, and then the ladies went furniture shopping to see what is out there and to get some ideas. Hallie found a couch she quite likes but Mike is not sure that is what they should put in the family room. It's a contemporary leather couch, and he thought we were going for a coastal cottage theme. It is about time we got this little house of ours updated. Mike left for work while Hallie was gone, and Hallie checked on the kids using our Amazon Echo Show, which is great because we can see if they have burnt down the house while we have left them alone. They did not burn down the house, and as a reward the three got Fiiz drinks.

By Sunday, Eliza's knee was looking quite a bit better. Eliza played a lot outside Sunday afternoon so we are hoping with school starting up again tomorrow that she will take some time to rest her leg before gym in the afternoon.

We're getting a new table for the dining room, so we did some furniture removal and rearranging. We removed from the office a wardrobe Eliza had used before getting her new dresser and replaced it with a bookcase from the front room, which we replaced with a bookcase from the dining room, which we replaced with the piano from the front room, which we replaced with nothing. Feels good to have a little extra space! Good thing Landon has gained a few pounds of upper body muscle while his leg was injured. He was a great help to us while moving stuff around. Thank you, Jake Southwick, for the new table. It comes on Wednesday, and we could not be more excited! Now to find some fun colorful chairs.
