Leading into the holidays, we had a few small adventures of note.
We took some time to organize and pack things up on Monday and Tuesday for the eventual move to Missoula.
On Wednesday, Landon had his end-of-semester guitar concert at the high school. On our way over we saw a heart on the mountainside. Turns out it was put up there by friends of the children of a man in town who passed away recently.
Hallie took Eliza to BUH to do an art project before joining Mike at the school. While there, Mike noticed that Landon's girlfriend Jocie was on one of the banners in the hall outside the auditorium. At the concert, she commented that she didn't like the picture because everyone in it looked "stoned."
Here's the boy with his band. They were the last group to play. Lots of talented players among the many groups.
They played "Heart-Shaped Box" by Nirvana. These Gen-X parents were entertained.
Jocie's dad Michael took our family's Christmas photo. May you have a merry one!
The front room got into a bit of disarray as we continue cleaning, organizing, and packing.
And we caught another blep.
Taking Kai on a walk this week, Hallie and Mike noticed the local covey of quail has grown quite a bit.
They like Kohar's house but won't let people very close. Off they fly!
Poor Ferg just has to bear up with Mike giving him invasive cuddles.
On Saturday, we had the chance to go up to Murray to see Landon's birthmom Natalie at the Fashion Place Mall.
We got quite a few fortune cookies with interesting fortunes. Mike liked the one he received. Excitement, especially the last few years, feels like a bit of an understatement. We're always game for a new adventure!
Mike found this first one amusing. Maybe these fortunes are just distributed at random or something.
Hallie appreciated this one now that she is gearing up to get new training once we get to Montana.
Driving home from Murray, we caught golden hues of the setting sun. We kind of had to rush to get Jocie home so she could play host to a party with Landon and other friends. Hallie managed to make it happen.
Our friends the Melos came over in the evening with some fun gifts like these delicious alfajores. They were the real deal! Way to make amazing cookies, Priscilla!
Priscilla made this fun picture and these adorable magnets of all of us (including the pets!) as Santa's little helpers. Note how Ferg ended up in a tree. Very apropos considering his first Christmas tree encounter.
Hallie got this fun tiny Winnie the Pooh tumbler. The Melos have been so great and know us well. They'll be going back to Chile for a bit, and we hope they have safe travels and can get back soon.
Oh, look. Another milestone. Landon is going to have to work extra hard to catch up to Mike at this rate.
On their Sunday morning walk, Kai and Mike encountered the quail covey outside Kohar's house again.
And once again, Kai spooked them into taking flight.
Mike had plasma donation, and Hallie worked at Starbucks. Hallie had lots of fun working with Brooke one of her Starbucks besties that she doesn't get to work with very often. Mike caught the kids playing music together while we had a Google Meet with Alie and Papa.
Landon didn't want to watch a Christmas movie, so we watched Transformers: The Last Knight, which was filmed partly in Detroit and partly in Oxford, so that was fun. Later we all watched Christmas Vacation while we ate dinner and Eliza wrapped some gifts.
