2025, March 17-23

The coming of spring meant many things in our family this week, including St. Paddy's Day eats, early flowers in bloom, and a test run of the fire pit.

For some reason, the photos want to post in reverse (this happens occasionally, and it drives Mike nuts). Anyway, starting from Sunday and moving backwards, here's the week.

Eliza wanted to see if we could do a fire pit. The weather seemed nice, so Mike consented. It's still chilly once the sun goes down though.

Hallie loved seeing Kai cozy up to his stuffed animal earlier in the day.

On Saturday night, she looked simply fabulous working the closing shift. Hallie has been scheduled to close Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays the last couple of weeks, and it's likely to be a trend for the next little while. She goes through a cycle of having to remember how to make the drinks on Fridays, to deja vu on Saturdays ("Didn't I already clean this?") to being done with Starbucks for a few days by the time Sunday shift is over.

On Saturday morning, Hallie and Mike watched Eliza compete in a taekwondo tournament over at the Summit Center. She placed first in her division in sparring and third in escrima sparring and forms.

On Friday, Hallie sent Mike this shot of her being chosen by the pets while he was teaching.

On Thursday, the first day of spring, Hallie and Eliza went to Hobble Creek Boutique after Eliza went to help out at Leslie's barn where she is doing what we are calling an internship.

Eliza fell in love with this gawdy Springville High School necklace. It looked like they were for graduation as many of the local schools were available for purchase.

St. Patrick's Day Monday found Hallie and Eliza in charge of making corned beef and cabbage. They did an amazing job by opting to roast the potatoes and add butter to the cabbage. So delicious!

As a parting shot, we have these lovely almond tree blossoms.
