2023, July 31 - August 6

We had family visits and prizes won.

On Monday, Eliza had her BUH classes, Landon had work, Hallie got a little ready for school, and Mike and Hallie went to the farmers market for dinner. Hallie was very much impressed by this cotton candy machine.

School is coming all too soon, and Mrs. Owens is prepared!

We had mild weather this week with cooler temperatures and rain. Eliza and Lily hung out on Tuesday afternoon.  Seriously, we love Gavin (a neighbor) who loves our dog and other dogs in the neighborhood. Look how Kai just has his paw on his head.

On our Wednesday morning walk with Kai, we saw that our neighbor (and only our neighbor) had a whole congregation of snails on her sidewalks.

Hallie's sister and her family came up from California to visit the grands. Hallie took Eliza over to play with Carly's girls. The girls set up a fort with the furniture in the basement.

Eliza was tuckered out by the time they got done.

Wednesday was a great day without a lot of pictures. Kydee, an awesome neighbor called down to ask if she could take Kai to the dog park with her other 3 dogs. Yes!!! From the picture below, Kai looks like he got a great workout.
Hallie, Carly, and Marilyn went to Acaydia Spa (beauty school) to get facials. It was a nice hour without a whole lot of cares. While Hallie was getting pampered, Alicia (our neighbor) was kind to take Eliza to taekwondo. Hallie reflected on how grateful she is for the great neighbors we have.We really do!

Both kids had dentist appointments on Thursday. Landon got his bands fixed, and Eliza got two baby teeth pulled. She ended up biting her lip while her mouth was numb, and it got swollen.

Here are images from BUH for this week.

On Friday morning, Eliza had the chance to go on a trail ride.

Later in the day, while the boys worked, the girls joined the cousins at the Provo Rec Center.

Kai has made a new friend in cousin Sawyer. Sawyer was thrilled to have Kai on her lap. Sawyer's dog Coco is not a fan of the car.

In the evening, we went over to the grands for dinner, which included barbecue burgers. Landon wanted to show his off.

We also had the Utah County Fair this week. With Hallie's encouragement, Mike followed through on submitting some of his artwork to the Open Class portion of the fair. He won first place in two categories (paper art and digital art) and third place in one of the photography categories. Apparently the fair pays its winners, and Mike got a whopping $7.00! He may not have had much competition, but he did more than all the more talented people out there who didn't enter. As Riley would say, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." Hopefully Hallie and the kids will be encouraged by this outcome to join him in participating next year!

Some of us went to the fair on Friday, and others went again on Saturday. We saw some fun crafts and homemade goods. All the girls who went Saturday got henna tattoos.

On Sunday, we all went up to Payson Lakes along the Nebo Loop somewhere around Mt. Loafer. We got to go kayaking thanks to the boats Grandma and Grandpa brought.

We even caught Grandpa in a kayak!

P.S. You know that they had to jump off of this pier. This picture was taken after they jumped twice, each.

We had a fun Sunday Social in the evening. We chose to have the fire pit because the weather was relatively cool for the summer. We love that Alicia left not one bit of marshmallow on her stick. We had a nice turn out tonight and it was great getting to know our neighbors even better.
