2023, May 29-June 4

We leave a mild May and enter a joyful June, in large part due to us (after careful deliberation) deciding to add Kai the dog to our family. We'll have to see how Fergus adapts to the new situation.

Here is Landon dressed for work at Splash Summit. It also serves as his "end of school year" update photo.

On Sunday, Hallie proved herself to be so buff that she broke the kitchen faucet. Monday Memorial Day morning, Mike went to buy a new one. Normally (with a notable exception some two decades ago), plumbing is not generally a problem for him.

However, today he learned about under sink faucet mounting brackets.

Said bracket required manhandling the old faucet and eventually calling Gpa M. over to use his grinder to cut off the brass part of the fixture.

With the old faucet removed (thanks, Dwight!), replacing the faucet went smoothly. Now we feel fancy.

Later in the day, we had hot dogs and marshmallows at Gma and Gpa M.'s. We helped them inaugurate this fireplace fixture.

Just a quick reminder to get o[UT]side. We love living here, and this year's weather continues to satisfy.

Eliza participated in a week-long cheerleading camp provided by the local high school. She had a lot of fun, and we appreciated having an activity to keep her busy.

She also still does TKD. While Eliza was there, Hallie took a walk at a trail nearby in Spanish Fork. It even had a workout station.

The meltwater continues to run high and fast.

After a long walk, a body needs some rest. Fergus is never far away from someone sitting still for long enough.

Hallie got a new necklace representing our three kiddos.

Since ending his former job, Mike has let himself get a bit scruffy. We'll see how long he tolerates the new facial hair. It's gotten decidedly more gray in the seven or so years since he had his goatee.

Eliza did art at BUH among her other activities there. Dad managed to get a picture of it before she made it disappear. The Utah County Fair has something called Open Class where families can enter their artwork to be admired and judged. Mike decided to enter some items, and he's encouraged the kids to follow suit.

Here is Eliza bedecked in her Red Devils sweatshirt.

Sadly, our friend and neighbor Julie and her family moved away this week. We'll miss them. As a bit of a consolation, we decided on Sunday to take over from them the shared responsibility of looking after Kai.

Here is Eliza on BUH's Insta with Aspen and Mac. She also got to spend some time at Guide 'N' Gallop this week interning for Afton.

Ferg blepping. Had to take a pic.

Eliza chillin'. Had to take a pic. This has become her favorite seat in the house.

Along with Lincoln moving, Landon's friend Blake from gymnastics is also leaving. Hallie took the boys out for sushi at Shoga in Orem. The boys were most impressed. Landon called this the best sushi he's ever eaten. They brought some home for Mike, and he liked it quite a bit too.

On Friday, the kids participating in the cheer class had their final extravaganza where they showed their families all they had learned. Eliza did some tumbling and even led a cheer!

Landon got hold of Mom's camera. He took weird pictures. Not many made it to the blog.

Julie sent a pic from a few years back of the kiddos when they were enough smaller to notice. Soooo cute!

Speaking of cute, this cat does it. Be ready for a bunch of dog pictures to accompany all the cat ones.

Mike and Eliza went on a nature walk Sunday morning. They saw flowers, water, and a snake, which Eliza caught (of course). She let it go soon thereafter.

In the evening we had another back alley get-together. Our neighbors are the best!
