Eliza spent a lot of time on horseback, and Landon spent some time home sick and going to physical therapy. We watched lots of Olympics.
With Harry Potter's birthday coming up on Saturday, the library had a party. Eliza joined our neighbors and friends she saw there for the festivities.
Apparently it took a lot out of her, because she crashed later in the day.
Landon felt under the weather Monday and Tuesday, and Fergus was there to comfort him.
Eliza spent a few days this week preparing to participate in a horse riding exhibition on Saturday.
She enjoys filming herself making faces on Mom's phone.
Landon has been bonding with Fergus this week, playing catch with his little buddy and otherwise making friends. Fergus is a funny cat who seems to go to whoever pays him the most attention.
Hallie took Landon to the physical therapist for his shoulder. The doctor put some KT tape on his shoulder and gave him some exercises to do. Later that night we were reminded that Landon is allergic to the adhesive and the pulling of the tape when at 4:00 am we had to deal with taking some of the tape off.
Local watermelons have started getting ready for harvest! Hallie caught this tractor on the road with a full load of them. We still think it is fun to live so close to the agriculture. Watching the process of seeing the fields go from sowing to harvest is mesmerizing.
Mike had a sticker made of one of his arms images. Now to find a bottle or random wall somewhere to put one on.
Eliza continued prepping for the show on Thursday, riding Echo and going through her paces.
Bold Gymnastics had a grand opening Olympic party on Friday and Saturday. Lily was on the ads!
Leading into the show, Eliza and the other riders groomed their ponies and made them all ready for their rides. It was interesting to learn about pulling a mane and to see the girls getting to shave the legs around the hooves.
They had to bathe some of them while the rain came down. Hallie thought it was a better idea to hide in the car.
On Saturday morning, Landon played fetch some more with Fergus before going to help out at Bold. He reported that he felt a bit beat up by the end of showing off his skills for four hours. Ha ha!
Eliza rode Echo at the horse show. Hallie and Hannah our 11-year-old neighbor came with to cheer her on, and we are so grateful for the support.
She won three blue ribbons for her efforts! All told, she and Hallie spent four days at Creekside this week. Quite the Olympic effort. Eliza cleared all of her rounds: trot poles and two rounds of cross bars.
We got another afternoon thunderstorm on the way to D&M's for dinner with R&B and their family. During dinner, the sun peeked through, and we saw a lovely rainbow over the grove behind the house. We got alerts on our phones on the way that caused Eliza to ask a lot of questions. Hallie wanted to drive just a little quicker to avoid any water issues on the road.
The older cousins went playing on the trampoline, and Eliza bumped her head that gave her a little goose egg and bit of blood. The three went back out to play, and minutes later Eliza got stung by a yellow jacket, but she took it all in stride as she tends to do. Landon stepped it up and brought them in. We took care of her hand, and they were off to play again.
The younger cousins (along with the rest of us) got Mexican heladitos. Hallie played educational games on her phone with the twins to keep them busy. It was fun for Hallie to spend some time with the girls.
After dinner, we went to Hallie's new favorite store,
The Barn in Spanish Fork. We received a nice little reminder that while our little family is weird, we're the good kind of weird.
