2021, June 7-13

The heat has arrived in earnest with more to come soon. Mike officially changed from his windowless end-of-the-hall office to one with a view of Y Mountain. Landon hurt his other knee, and we got a new laptop.

This week started the first week of summer training at AirTime for the kids. Next week will start Hallie's babysitting gig for the summer on top of the kids' training.

As part of our morning date this week, Mike and Hallie went to the university and trucked the stuff from his one office to the other. Later in the week, Eliza came in to help out too. It's nice to feel settled into new digs, but it's a bummer that moving happened because one of Mike's colleagues retired. Now Hallie needs to go back up so she can see the finished product in person. Too bad the step counter on her watch didn't catch as many steps as she thought she got walking back and forth as many times as she did.

Earlier in the week, Eliza found and photographed a robin nest in a tree a bit down the block. Later on this week, she and Mike took a little nature walk after the heat of the day ended. Eliza is very curious, and sometimes it is more than we feel comfortable with, but a lot of times we don't find out where her curiosity has led her until after her adventure has ended or until we catch her in the act.

Can you see Papa Robin sitting on the nest above? We stayed on the ground, but he was none-too-happy that we were even 10 feet from his nest.

We also saw some bees collecting nectar and pollen from the hedges and flowers in the neighborhood. These busy girls were particularly photogenic.

No, it's not Bryce or Zion, but where we live is nonetheless picturesque if you know where and when to look.

Eliza and friends decided to get down and grimy in the dirt surrounding some of the bushes in the neighbor's front yard.

A friend of Mike's on Discord gave his arms the Egyptian treatment.

Fergus is particularly enjoying the warm weather. He's taken to lying out in the wagon on the side yard. On the other hand, we prefer to stay cool. The insulation in the garage and the portable A/C unit have really helped keep the upstairs comfortable at the end of the day.

The girls spent a little time this morning primping and preening. We went up to Grandma and Grandpa M's to check on their garden. There are positives and negatives to having big and small yards.

We had Art City Days this week in town. While this year AirTime didn't participate in the parade, we nonetheless attended the carnival and booths over by the Civic Center.
