Things to do, people to see, and places to go this week, mostly here around the house. They involved our favorite toys, animals, and outdoor spots.
Eliza got a new shirt. Yes, it is too big, but Hallie got it on a good deal Scheels last Sunday at the BUH fundraiser. Eliza is doing a horsemanship show in a few weeks at Bridle Up Hope Mapleton.
Mike realized he had a personal connection to his new Great Wave LEGO set, this note-taking journal he got a couple of years back as part of some professional development. Apparently it's a popular image.
He finished up building the set this week.
(He also needs a haircut, among other things.)
Here is the finished product. If you look closely, you'll see that the wave foam partly consists of white leaves and bird elements. Clever LEGO people!
And here it is hung up in the front room. Hopefully as we continue encountering rough weather, we will make it through.
Kai came back. Mornings can be hard. Both he and Eliza like their beauty sleep.
Mike got a few more shots of crabapple blossoms. They're starting to fall from the local trees as early spring moves into full-blown spring. We got wind and rain later in the week with snow in the mountains.
The weather was pleasant enough on Tuesday for a late afternoon/early evening sit-out on the front porch.
Kai got a haircut Wednesday. He looks like a whole new dog.
Wednesday also felt nice enough to sit outside and enjoy the sun and views for a bit.
We let sleeping dogs lie here.
And we let bleppy cats blep.
And we have always let our sleeping cat lie round these parts.
Eliza got a military-style backpack from Uncle Bryce. He also got her his 25th Infantry "Tropic Lightning" patch. This division is older than the attack on Pearl Harbor and has a storied history.
Fergus couldn't resist the cat trap the pack and patches came in.
Eliza always likes pictures of her and Fergus to prove that he likes her as well as anyone in the house. She can get him to sleep like a baby sometimes.
Here she is with her new army gear. She's quite excited to bring it to Yates Place next Wednesday.
On Sunday, Mom, Dad, and E went on a walk on the trail up by Hobble Creek in the north part of our neighborhood. There E found a ladybug.
She also sighted a small garter snake. She wanted to catch (and release) it.
Bye, snake!
The creek trail has pretty views to the north.
Continuing the Japanese theme, we added this LEGO sakura (cherry blossom) bonsai to our collection, just in time for the end of the season in Japan. If you look closely, you'll see that some of the "blossoms" are actually pink frogs. Once again, those LEGO people are clever. Funny too!
