Starting the Month on the GO GO GO

This entry’s going to be short but sweet. The kids enjoyed lots of activities to start the month, from s’mores in the backyard, to a play and a field day at Landon’s school, to a gymnastics recital, to Fergus’s return from his long vacation at Grandma and Grandpa O.’s. As always, there are a few photos. Enjoy!

The garden is coming along. We have harvested lettuce and spinach. Zucchinis are coming in, and the cukes and tomatoes have little blossoms.

On Monday, we had s'mores in the backyard.

Later on, Elder Boyce celebrated his one-year mark. Both he and Elder Bailey were "whitewashed" from the area, and two new missionaries, Elder Toa and Bradley (a greenie from Ontario, Canada!) came in. We miss our former elders, but we are excited to work with the new ones!

Hallie and Eliza had a fun lunch bunch ladies' afternoon out at the Gardens of the World and Lassen's Natural Food & Vitamins in Thousand Oaks. Luckies!

On Thursday, Landon had a school play. He played one of the wise old zebras who tried to warn the other animals not to fall prey to Anansi the spider's tricks in the story of Anansi and the Moss Covered Rock.

Hallie had bought some bacon from Zaycon Foods a while back, and the delivery came this week. This is the stuff of dreams -- bacony, bacony dreams.

After Eliza's gymnastics class, she tried juicy luscious strawberries and tart sweet kumquats.

Landon had his school's annual field day on Friday. Mike got to volunteer a bit in the morning, but he didn't manage to get any pictures of Landon's all-star efforts. Landon showed off some stellar schoolwork after school.

100% on his Animal Report!

The kids finished pizza and a movie night (Return of the Jedi) with some high-powered moves inspired by the film.
Just another Friday night doing flips and handstands at home. No big whoop.
Mike started his second year at CLU on Saturday with the arrival of the new doctoral cohort. While he and his colleagues worked, Hallie took the kids to the Home Depot, where they and cousin Cru made and painted trucks.

Later on in the day, Landon had a gymnastics recital at the California Cartwheel Center, where he and Eliza have just started classes. We look forward to an active summer!

Fergus the prodigal kitty returned home when Mike picked him up from Grandma and Grandpa's (Thanks for looking after him!). He immediately started back into his old routines of wanting to go play outside. Punk cat. Stay home for a bit, will ya?
