2023, April 1-7

No foolin'. March went out like a lion, leaving us with April showers for some of spring break. We still had fun.

We relaxed this Spring Break week at home, and unlike last year, the kids did not experience an April Fool's internet outage. Mike's wondering whether that should become an annual tradition for us all.

Mike took Eliza to visit the ponies Jack and Raunchy on Monday.

It's hard to see it in this photo, but we got a rainbow view due to the stormy weather that passed through during the day.

We also got a visit from this duck and drake.

Eliza got a haircut at our neighbor's house. It brought out her curls (once it dried, not shown).

Hallie got a new hairdo too. <<wolf whistle>>

While we mostly hung around home for the week doing things the kids like to do during their after-school time. We had toyed with the idea of taking a day trip or two, but it all ended up with Hallie and Eliza going up to Midway to Hallie's happy place, Hidden Peak Provisions.

While the girls were out, the boys played outside. Kai loves for Landon to play catch with him. Landon likes to send the ball far down the house row.

Kai is a cuddler. Here he is cozying up to Mike not long before Brittany picked the doggo back up. It is hard sometimes to switch back after having him for 10 days or more.

Mike took E back to visit the ponies a couple of times later in the week. We met up with a tom turkey and three hens.

Saturday morning while Mike and Hallie were running errands, it began to hail. Looked like a bunch of styrofoam exploded everywhere.

Fergus is such a handsome fellow.

We didn't end up showing off the wildly colored eggs we made for Easter. They appear here more muted than they were in real life.

On Sunday morning, Fergus joined Mike on his morning walk.

They greeted the ponies in the north field. The foal is getting to be quite big.

Next thing you know, Ferg decided to go on a hunting trip.

Then again, maybe not.

Eliza and Mike had collected some discarded barbed wire, and Mike used it to fashion a letter O to put on the entry gable.

Here is Landon looking like a certain pair of cartoon characters from the 1990s.

Three of us went for an early afternoon walk on the Mapleton Parkway Trail. We saw horses, llamas, and goats. It was in the 40s, but with the sun shining it was very enjoyable. Eliza is still a good sport to get outside with us and enjoys time spent with her parents.
