2022, December 5-11

December continues. A couple of storms brought needed snow. While we prefer that it stay up in the mountains, it made a marshmallow world down here in the valley to enjoy.

This was our view out the window Monday morning. A neighbor had already shoveled our walk. So kind!

The drive up to Landon's school was a bit treacherous due to the still-falling snow and slippery roads. Mike reported a couple of wonky car sightings on the way to and from the Jr High about 6 miles round trip. Hallie is grateful to not work on Mondays.

Mike started singing (off key and in an annoying dad way) about how it was "a marshmallow world in the winter" and decided to turn on the radio to keep the kids from being too put out. Low and behold, the same song came crooning through the speakers! Mike thought that was quite amusing. The kids, not so much!

Fergus chose to stay indoors. He's not a big fan of the cold or the white stuff. Yet he still insists on staying out during the midnight hours.

While the kids were otherwise occupied, Mom and Dad went to a new independent book store in Spanish Fork, Poppy Books & Gifts. Hallie thought it was more fun to show you one of the several cute poppies that adorn the inside of the shop.

Eliza got quite dirty while she helped out at Guide 'N' Gallop. Eliza doesn't complain about working each Monday night in the elements. We are proud of her and her dedication.

Mike took a walk down SF Main Street while Landon was at TKD. The street has lots of decorations, including this handsome tree covered in lights and snow.

Snow/ice continued to cover branches and fences in the morning on Tuesday.

The kids thought it would be fun to kick the ice off the chain link fences at Springville JHS.

We tried to get some slow-mo shots.

Mike got a couple of sunny tree shots in before the sun melted the ice off everything.

Guide 'N' Gallop was soupy with mud in the afternoon. That didn't stop Eliza. Eliza is always quite warm. Hallie on the other hand freezes to the bone.

Eliza had her first taste of egg nog when she went to Costco with Mom. Eliza was playing a bit dramatic, but Hallie is glad she didn't buy any as Eliza was not a fan.

Mike had an online meeting Wednesday evening, and Fergus decided to join in. It's been a while since the kitty has ventured to climb up on Mike's shoulders.

On Wednesday night, we got some more new snow.

Landon moved up a level in TKD to a white belt with a yellow stripe. We all got to come out to see him advance with his peers and demonstrate some skills he has mastered.

Eliza and the kids at Yates Place worked on dissecting owl pellets this week.

This was Hallie's view from outside her building at the high school. The view won't be quite the same as the preschool Hallie works at is moving to a different part of the high school this next week. As we are writing this, it is supposed to snow. Hallie is hoping that it doesn't snow Monday into Tuesday so the move will be easy.

She has been working ticket sales for the school's athletic events. Here's what varsity wrestling looks like. The main event gets a spotlight.

Some friends of ours had some deaths in the family, so Hallie put together a taco dinner for them. Mike took this shot just to make sure he had everything they needed to deliver. Hallie has a tendency of finding new recipes to make when she needs to make and bring something. This dinner was no different. Chicken tacos, the meat made in the instant pot. The recipe was successful!

Landon has had several drawing projects for class. Here's a sample.

Eliza and Hallie went to a Christmas boutique on the way to getting Eliza's hair done. They had some funny stickers. Eliza has decided she should cut her own bangs the last several times, and it was time to fix the novice attempts.

Doesn't she look adorable?

She and Hallie went to an art project at Michael's where they painted rocks with snowmen.
