2022, August 1-7

We had a break from the hottest weather. It's still warm, but signs of fall are in and on the air (back to school, back to school).

We caught Fergus blepping.

Some weirdo thought he should try to kill a spider with a lighter. Forty burned acres later, here we are. Hallie and Eliza were able to see the flames as they headed to the Springville Farmers Market. The market and the fire ended when an early evening monsoon rolled in.

Eliza got her ear pierced (again) while we attended the market. Eliza has done a very good job keeping it clean and letting Hallie put the cleaning solution on it. Keeping the earring in is half the battle for this strong-willed child.

On Tuesday, the kids had an opportunity to earn some money by being part of a YouTube video. Have your kids ever watched any of the six channels from the Ninja Kidz company? Hopefully in a month's time Landon and Eliza will be in a quick eight-minute video you will be able to see too. It was a long and fun day for both kids.

One of Mike's heraldry friends made him an emblazonment.

On Wednesday, Landon and Hallie got their hair done, Landon in preparation for the upcoming school year. It just so happens that he will be in another paid TV gig as well this upcoming week. We gotta find out ways to keep these opportunities coming! He has made more in one week than in two weeks at work.

Hallie went for a more radical change. At first it was too much of a change. . . .

After washing it three times with Palmolive and a clarifying shampoo right after she got home, lots of purple came out. Her hair is slightly lighter, but it is still not where Hallie wanted it to be. Deep cleansing breaths. Hallie feels wearing make up pulls the look together a bit more. but she hates doing her make up every day. So folks, it is what it is.

Mike and Eliza enjoyed time at Creekside in the meantime.

Here lies Fergus, master of naps.

We went out to eat with our next-door neighbors on Saturday morning at The Brunch House in Provo. Mike got a breakfast burrito, and Hallie got this Monte Cristo sandwich. The place is run by Argentinians, so they also had tasty pastries and alfajores.  The owners run another yummy restaurant called Asado that we like quite well. It was fun to be able to go out with our next-door neighbors. Our therapist said we need to make more time for each other, and now we can go back and say we did.

We got some fairly heavy rain in the afternoon, and the girls caught this rainbow from the freeway while they were out.  Hallie was wearing her sunglasses and couldn't see the rainbow. It was great that Eliza was able to catch it with Hallie's phone.

Landon bought another katana with some of his summer job money. The katana came wrapped very fancy so Hallie took pictures of the unveiling. Landon is very happy with his purchase. The summer is winding down, and so is Landon's job. Labor Day will be his last day for the season. Landon has done well at his first paying job, and we are very proud of him and his hard work.

While Eliza was out, she got caught by a mosquito. Apparently she has learned how to edit photos.

This morning, Fergus came up and plopped himself on Mike, as is his wont. He also blepped.

One of Eliza's horsey friends at the farmer's field wanted his own closeup. No horse blep though.

This brown horse has some barbed wire stuck in his tail. We are thinking about trying to help get it out.

Eliza has really enjoyed the outdoors, and in an effort to tell her "yes" more often, Hallie took her up to the reservoir at Wayne Bartholomew Park. Great day to be out! Eliza is by herself a lot and seems to need a lot of attention. Hallie could sense that of Eliza today. Eliza did not want to spend a ton of time there, especially when she saw other people eating. As soon as we came home she then went outside, again.

Hallie quit her job this week. We are grateful for the income it gave us over the summer that we don't usually have. Hallie is excited to spend some quality time with the kids before school starts in just ten short days. Where did the summer go?!
