2020, November 2-8

We had a momentous week with the start of the new month. Surprisingly, however, we don't have many photos to show for it.

Tuesday Hallie started feeling a sore throat and tried to pass it off as it being because she slept with her mouth open. But by Wednesday it hadn't changed. Hallie looked up the Covid symptoms, and a sore/scratchy throat is on the list, so she thought it was time to go to the clinic and get tested. Lily went with Hallie and was a great sport. The two kept a good distance from each other, and the end result was Hallie had did not have Covid. Hallie took 2 days off of work until she got the results back and to try to get her health under control.

Hallie bought Eliza and Landon Halloween candy to bribe them to stay home, so they didn't have as much as they have had in previous years. That is fine as far as we're concerned. Eliza found this super-sized Sour Patch Kid among her loot.

She likes taking pictures of Fergus doing feline things, such as suckling her favorite blanket. Fergus is so patient with Eliza. What a great cat we have! For the last few days he hasn't been eating his wet food so we are keeping an eye on him.

Eliza has developed into quite the accomplished rider! Sharing videos aren't the greatest on here so we don't. This pony Eliza is on is named Annie. Annie is awesome!!! Eliza is learning to do things with steering the horse. It is so fun to watch her progress and smile nearly the whole time she is riding.

She also has very strong political opinions (perhaps the apple doesn't fall far from the tree?). We swear that we don't go overboard on the politics, but some things can't be helped. Congratulations, Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris, on your win.  Hallie called the house on her way home from her nail appointment and couldn't figure out all of the commotion in the background. Mike then explained Eliza was celebrating Biden's win.

This comic was a little too good to resist (apologies if you voted for the incumbent).

Hallie got fancy nails in keeping with the Thanksgiving season. Hallie and Mandie the nail tech chat it up for nearly two hours every three weeks.

Another Fergus candid, this time by Mike on Saturday night as we watched Biden's acceptance sppech. You can usually find Fergus near Mike, but on Sunday morning Fergus finally snuggled up by Hallie before it was time to get ready for church.

This photo above was the calm before the storm on Saturday evening, apparently. We let him out, and before too long, we had a bit of excitement between a vole he brought in the house, a picture dropping from a wall, and ants invading the pantry all within an hour! Everyone in the house was great at helping clean up the broken glass and the ants in the kitchen. The vole hid itself in the couch before Mike shook it out of the couch.

Sunday was calm in comparison. Eliza erected this clever fort at the corner of the two couches. This beats the fort she wanted to build in our room.

We also got our first sticking snow of the season a bit after church. We had hot chocolate with mint whip cream (Thanks, Target!!!). Hallie made a great simple instant pot dinner, and everyone seemed to like it, so this will be one for the recipe box!

In the evening, Governor Herbert announced new restrictions relating to COVID-19.
