The second week of the kids’ break included ringing in the
new year (for Eliza, at least) at the bike park. We spent much of the week at
home, going to gymnastics, or going to the track.
On Monday, the kids went to gymnastics.
They got out for some running around the block on Tuesday, first with Dad and then with Mom. Eliza got a kick out of Landon pushing her fast on the skateboard.
Mike took some time on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day to
put up the tree wall decal. Finally the vision he had of the front room wall
photo mural is complete. Thanks, Hallie!
The car reached a milestone as the year wound to its close:
Eliza and Hallie went to the bike track for New Year’s,
while the boys camped out at home. Eliza seems to be more enthusiastic about
the whole BMX thing lately. She took home a trophy for her efforts. Go, girl!
On the morning of the first day of 2016, we built wild
creations while watching the Tournament of Roses Parade.
Hallie needed to go to the urgent care to get a prescription
refilled. She took the back
roads to the pharmacy, so she missed the chance to offer a ride to the nude
hitchhiker who was walking along the 101 near our home. She did spy a pretty sunset, though.
The tree and other Christmas decorations are down for
another year, although some snowflakes linger and may continue to do so. We
hear rain is in the forecast.
While we tidied up, the kids played together. We’re grateful
to see them get along and find common interests now that Eliza is getting just
old enough to understand how to play with and not just alongside her big
brother. We may finally be at a point where we can take more of the Legos and
build us a little town taking inspiration from another of Mike’s Christmas
gifts and the gobs of raw material filling the toy room.
Church starts at 11:00 am this year. Woo Hoo!
